The Faculty of Tourism Hospitality and Languages organized one day Research Seminar that took place at Silver Springs Bugoloobi. This was mainly:

  1. To showcase and engage in the discussion of the latest research findings.
  2. To recognize members who had successfully participated in research and published papers.
  3. To encourage young scholars to engage in research activities for their personal and institutional development.

Professor Atcero   Milburga the Faculty Dean who also represented the Principal of Makerere University Business School Prof. Moses Muhwezi   welcomed members and thanked them for making time to attend the very first research seminar. She told members that the ambiance was quite encouraging to go and mobilize for more research funds as the Seminar helped to build young researchers’ capacity as they received genuine comments from their seniors and colleagues from various academic fields for improvement.

She assured scholars with support of research activities from the Makerere University Business School (MUBS) community and also urged them to be more involved in the research activities as it was the way to go. This was specifically to benefit Lecturers who were supposed to teach, search and publish to enable them to apply for promotion and also making a difference in their specializations.  Scholars were again urged and tasked to market the faculty by publishing more articles and also submit some in the school Library.

The Faculty Research Committee Chairman appreciated the Dean for being supportive in the field of research.  He stressed that research enhances one’s confidence, legitimate, informed and acquire skills that gives the ability to stand before the learners and share knowledge.
